5 Reasons Kids Benefit from Training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

brazilian jiu jitsu in Corona

#1 Kids need goals-
Yes. You heard it. Starting them young and teach them how to set goals for themselves. Trust me, you will thank us in the future. The entire structure of BJJ is centered towards multiple set of goals presented over a period of a student's growth. Setting up our kids to appreciate goals will teach to strive further!

#2: BJJ is a safe form of martial arts-
Yes. BJJ also known as a gentle art is as safe as it could be. I have yet to see a kid loose an eye. Believe it. It's true. Aside from safety standards set by BJJ schools in the United States, instructors take the best measures in making sure that the environment is safe enough for both instructors and students. Although, let me remind you that not all schools are lead, created the same. In my future articles, I will show you a definitive guide in choosing the best schools for your kids.

#3: Competition is healthy-
We all love to compete. Human beings are hardwired to best another. however, in BJJ, there is no such thing as losing. Kids will learn the valuable lesson of winning; that there is always grace in winning. And in losing; where there is no such thing, only learning.

#4: BJJ teaches discipline-
Discipline distinguishes successful people from the mediocre stock. It is discipline that determines a person's value. What does BJJ have to do with it? Quite a lot. BJJ teaches discipline. A disciplined instructor, BJJ professor produces disciplined students. Trust me. This will go a long way for every student.

#5: BJJ is healthy.
Here are countless studies that provide concrete evidence that physical activity has numerous health benefit. Why not choose an activity for those young ones that is more fun and interactive. Play actually actually ends between the age of 10 to 12. During this period, a kid will then establish his liking to physical activities. Keeping them physically active is the key to a healthy lifestyle.

On Saturday June 15th, Pacific Top Team Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Corona hosted a special event for Dad’s to get on the mats and train a little jiu jitsu together. The class was fun and interactive and the Dad’s definitely got a good workout! The kids loved having their Dad’s on the mats and was a fun time to show them some of the skills they have been learning! Jiu Jitsu is a dynamic sport that can be enjoyed by everyone and is a great way for Dad’s to get actively involved with their kids by training with them! Not only does it keep them fit and active but it is a great way to bond.

Summer Rash Guard Super Sale

Rashguards are essential for Training Jiu Jitsu! Once you have trained in a rash guard you will never go back! Check out these benefits to training with a rash guard

Reducing bacteria spread

Everyone knows that skin to skin contact in Jiu Jitsu can means the spread of bacteria. Even in the gi, your kimono top can open and the chance of spreading bacteria heightens. If you wear a rashguard underneath your gi, even if it opens, the chance of bacteria spreading is much less. This is important so that you can keep your skin happy, and avoid unnecessary trips to the doctor.

All about the grips and controls

When rolling or competing, sweat can become a serious factor. The more you sweat, the more slippery that you become. Because of this, your opponent can begin to slip out of certain submissions and your grips can become much less effective. When you wear a rashguard, especially, a long sleeve rashguard, you are giving yourself more traction and friction to finish submissions and giving yourself better control.

Possible injury prevention

When your muscles are compressed, they are less likely to become injured. Muscle pulls and strains are common and usually accidental. When wearing a rashguard that fits perfect, you will find yourself not getting injured as easily. The compression also allows for your muscles to recover more quickly, which will mean less soreness in the long-run.

Mat & Gi burn prevention

One of the annoying issues in Jiu Jitsu is mat burn or your Gi irritating you. You can get pretty painful mat burns when training. Rashguards will prevent that mat burn and Gi Burn from occurring on your chest, back and arms (if you’re wearing a long-sleeve one). While mat burn isn’t a huge injury, it can still hurt and affect your performance.

As a Jiu Jitsu student, you should always have at least two rashguards in your closet, even if you are a gi player. Having them will help you out in your training and competitions. And added bonus!! Jiu Jitsu rash guards can be used for water or outdoor sports during the summer!

Check out the SUMMER RASH GUARD SUPER SALE at PTT Corona this week! All our rashguards are on sale 50% off!! We have over 10 designs to choose from in Adult and Kid sizes. Limited supply so pick yours up now!! Only $25 each.

Instructor Immersion

brazillina jiu jitsu instructor course corona riverside

On May 26th, EDJ Riverside hosted an event for Affiliations, Academy Members, Instructors, Program Directors, School Owners and Operators. Everyone was invited to join Prof. Juan P. Garcia for a fast-paced one day Conference focusing on teaching methods. This one day conference is the first step on becoming a certified instructor and learn the Academy Systems. The conference focused on teaching skills to equip instructors with next level teaching tools. and provided the opportunity to immediately put those tools into practice in an immersive, hands on experience.

One of Professor JP’s personal missions is to not only share Jiu Jitsu with his students but to equip them with tools to be role models, leaders, instructors or Academy Owners one day. His Courses including the Instructor Immersion Conference is the first step down this journey and is an opportunity for students to learn a little it more about teaching styles and methods to explore future opportunities to be a Instructor or an assistant coach.

Congratulations to Everyone that completed the one day course! We are excited for the future of Jiu Jitsu!
